T.I.S. Noise project

Intro

09.28.2022 8th grade had an in-lesson project with Jaak-Albert Metsoja, where pupils measured the noise level of our school. We divided ourselves into two groups and began independent work - measuring the noise levels in the following rooms : The lunch room where kindergartens ate, our school lobby next to the Lunch room, and the Hall where 4th graders had a lesson, on the school terrace, and the second and third floor corridor.

Results + discussions

The results and graph are shown down below.

After measuring we discussed with the class and came to the realization that the noise levels were similar in all rooms. We are unable to provide precise measurements because every day is different. Today was relatively quiet because we had a sports day.

Our team of noise scientists was: Zofia Duda, Anano Tchaava, Greg Värnomasing, Unna Löppönen, Siim Kurel, Joosep Voltein; supervisor Jaak-Albert Metsoja
.

Average noise level in the different rooms of our school. Some rooms were measured with several devices.

Rooms can be very quiet when nobody is there. School lobby providing a quiet environment during lesson time.
